He spent his en- tire career at Baker Funeral Home until his retirement in 1997. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. JACKSON “JACK” O. BURDEN of Naples, FL, formerly of Wallkill, NY died June 15, 2020 at the age of 95. A funeral director, he was the former owner of Wallkill Fu- neral Home in Wallkill from 1973 to 1991. SHIRLEY G. HAASE of Genoa City, WI died July 4, 2020 at the age of 92. She worked alongside her husband, Da- vid E. Haase in owning and operating the Haase Funeral Home for many years. ANTHONY E. “TONY” KULFAN of Zelienople, PA died July 5, 2020 at the age of 81. In his time as a funeral director, he worked around the clock driv- ing ambulance and providing services and was known for his meticulous work and attention to detail. GENE LAZUTA of Sedona, AZ formerly of Parma, OH died June 20, 2020 at the age of 85. He was the former co-owner of Kolodiy-Lazuta Funeral Home. RICHARD C. “RICK”MATTHEWS of Darlington, SC died July 8, 2020 at the age of 66. A grad- uate of Fayetteville Technical Community College, he was a li- censed funeral director at Kis- tler Funeral Home . EDGAR T. MILLER of Mem- phis, TN died July 1, 2020 at the age of 68. A lifelong funer- al director, he began assisting his father at the old Hayes Fu- neral Home. He later joined the N. J. Ford and Sons Fu- neral Home, where he worked in all aspects of the business, most recently as the chief op- erating officer. JOHN N. SCHNURRENBERGER of West Mansfield, OH died June 21, 2020 at the age of 92. A licensed funeral director for over fifty years, he owned and operated Schnurrenberger Funeral Home with wife, Ma- rie for 25 years. He graduat- ed from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, where he served as class president. ALEXANDER JAN SCOTT of Avon, CT died June 29, 2020 at the age of 48. A funeral di- rector for 25 years, he was di- rector of public relations at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes (Newington Memori- al and Burritt Hill). A graduate of the Simmons Institute of Fu- neral Service, he was a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, a Certified Pre-planning Consultant and a Certified Cre- mation Services Provider. Scott was currently president of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association. ROBERT J. DUTCAVICH of Lock Haven, PA died June 23, 2020 at the age of 81. He was a licensed funeral director at several funeral homes in New York City before moving to Lock Haven to work at the Patrick R. Moriarity Fu- neral Home. In 1985, he and his wife, Antonia purchased the business from Patrick and Ve- ronica Moriarity. Upon his re- tirement in 2002, Dutcavich was associated with the Yost- Gedon Funeral Home in Lock Haven and the Dean K. Wetzler Jr Funeral Home in Mill Hall. He graduated from the McAllister School of Mortuary Science in 1958. DAVID N. HEALD of Holly Hill, FL, formerly of Springvale, ME died July 9, 2020 at the age of 71. A funeral director for 33 years, he worked alongside his father, James Heald at Heald Funeral Home. David assumed ownership of the firm in 1982 and in 2005 the business was sold. He partnered with Rich- ard Shaw to form Maine Bio- medical Service, the first and only licensed medical waste incinerator in Maine. He graduated with a degree in mor- tuary science from the University of Minnesota in 1972. WILLIAM “SONNY” HOWARD DOVE of New Bern, NC died July 6, 2020 at the age of 76. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, he completed his internship at Oscar’s Mortu- ary, which was founded by his father, Oscar Dove in 1960. Sonny and his two sisters, Dorothy and Eileen Dove, took over the business in 2010 upon the death of their mother, Grace Dove. He was president of the firm until the time of his death. He graduated from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. ARVEL L. “ELO” CHEEK of Oxford, AL died June 17, 2020 at the age of 86. In 1954, he began working in the casket industry at Wal- lace Metal Products in Rich- mond, IN before being trans- ferring to the Wallace Plant in Anniston, AL in 1971. In 1982 he founded Coldwa- ter Casket Company, which later became Southern Heri- tage Casket. Cheek operated the business alongside his sons, Rick and Jeff and his wife Betty until his re- tirement in 2010. He was a member of the Casket and Funeral Supply Association of America. In 1956 he joined his fa- ther, John Wolfenden All- nut and brother, Jack Allnut in the family business, All- nut Funeral Service-Macy Chapel as a funeral director, mentor and advisor. A 1952 graduate of the University of Colorado, he served one year as president of the Na- tional Selected Morticians.
