Fippinger Funeral Home marks Fiftieth Year
LAKEHURST,NJ—
Geraldine (Geri) Oliverie Hennicke’s
dream to open her own funeral home became a reality in
1987 when the doors to
Oliverie Funeral Home
opened.
In 1982 Geri received her Associates in Applied Sciences
from Herkimer County College and in 1983 she received
her Associates in Business from Ocean County College. In
pursuit of her childhood dream Geri enrolled in
Ameri-
can Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service,
grad-
uating with honors as class Vice President in 1984. She
was licensed by the state of New Jersey and the national li-
censing board in 1986. In 2006 she received her Celebrant
Certification from Oklahoma University.
At the young age of eight Geri knew she wanted to be a fu-
neral director. Her grandmother’s sudden death and her par-
ents’ decision to not let her go to the funeral stirred her curi-
osity into the funeral business. Her parents thought it was a
phase she would eventually grow out of and even went as far
as taking her to visit a local funeral home where her aunt did
hair to see if she could handle being in the preparation room.
