Geraldine & Michael Hennicke
Geraldine Oliverie’s Dream to serve her Community is realized with
Oliverie Funeral Home
Growing up on a farm and watching the
circle of life with the animals she cared for
reinforced her desire to become a funeral
director. “The funeral is for the living, and
it gives family and friends a place to gath-
er and grieve,” says Geri. “I love the social
aspect of the funeral, the noisier the bet-
ter. We celebrate the life the deceased lived
and how they may have been an influence
to each and every one of us. Unlike wed-
dings, no invitation is required, and the
price of the funeral you select is the same
no matter how many attend.”
Geri started her community service
at a very young age. Starting in 1975
as a Jackson First Aid Explorer she be-
came a Junior Cadet and at the age of
18 a full privileged member leading
her to become a career speaker for the
Boy Scouts. An active supporter of her
community, she has served on numer-
ous boards and volunteered hundreds
of hours. The United Way Children’s
Easter Drive, the Ocean County Cath-
olic Charity Christmas
Toy Drive and the Boy
Scouts Food Drive are
just a few of the events she is passionate about. Her many
civic memberships include the Lakehurst Manchester
Rotary since 1988 where she has served in many capaci-
ties including Assistant District Governor. Geri is on the
Advisory Board of her Alma Mater, Ocean County Col-
lege, and has served for St. Joseph’s Century Club, St. Jo-
seph’s Grade School Advancement Advisory Committee,
and is a Past President of the Monsignor Donovan High
School PTA. She was inducted into the Jackson Memo-
rial High School Hall of Fame a few years ago and the
Monsignor Donovan High School Giving Tree as well as
being an honoree of the Jersey Shore Girls Scout Coun-
cil. She has also served on the Lakehurst Board of Educa-
tion, Planning Board and as Council Woman.
Geri is a major sponsor of the Children’s Memorial Gar-
den in the Winding River Park that is maintained by the
Compassionate Friends of Toms River. A charter member
of both the
Funeral Ethics Association
and the Lakehurst
Historical Society, she is also a member of the
New Jersey
State Funeral Directors Association
and the
National Fu-
neral Directors Association
.
Geri married her husband
Michael J. Hennicke
in
1988. Mike is also a licensed funeral director and co-
owner of their business. Together the couple opened the
firm’s second location in Manchester in 2000. They have
three children.
