Page A31 MAY 2019 FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY NEWS S ec t i on A News Educational ContinueD Pet Loss & Grief Companioning Certification Courses Coming to Dallas, Boston and Denver SOUTHLAKE,TX— Two Hearts Pet Loss Center will offer Pet Loss & Grief Companioning Certifica- tion courses in Dallas on May 14-16 at the Hilton Garden INN DFW North Grapevine in Dallas; Sep- tember 8-10 at the Embas- sy Suites at Logan Airport in Boston; and September 17-19 at the Courtyard by Marriott Denver Airport in Denver. Designed for end-of- life pet care professionals, these three-day intensive courses explore crucial topics related to pet loss, including pet loss com- panioning, pet hospice, anticipatory grief, needs of mourning, importance of rituals, pet loss support groups, children and grief, surviving pets and grief, pets and spirituality, pet loss communication and compassion fatigue. The courses also provide pow- erful, one-of-a-kind net- working opportunities, business building sessions, self-care activities (such as massage therapy), and moving tributes that hon- or the pets of attendees. The courses meet the re- quirements for 15 hours of continuing education credits for veterinary pro- fessionals who work in ju- risdictions that recognize AAVSB/RACE approv- al. (Please note that some boards limit the num- ber of hours accepted in certain categories and/or have restrictions on cer- tain methods of deliv- ery for continuing educa- tion). Coleen Ellis, president of Two Hearts Pet Loss Center and renowned pet loss pioneer and visionary, will lead all of the courses. She also will be speaking at the Cremation Innova- tion Conference in Char- lotte on May 3; the Angel Pets Conference in Ashe- ville on June 8; at PLPA College in Memphis in July; and at the IAAHPC annual conference in Chi- cago on October 4-6. Ellis is past co-chair of the Pet Loss Professionals Alliance, and co-found- er of The Pet Loss Cen- ter. She is an internation- al speaker, author, mentor and coach, and has been featured in ICCFA Maga- zine, Pet Loss Insider and ConnectingDirectors.com. Ellis was awarded the first Death and Grief Studies Certification specializing in Pet Loss Companion- ing by the Center for Loss in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2009. Ellis authored of Pet Parents: A Journey Through Unconditional Love and Grief in 2011.
