A licensed funeral director for 55 years, he was president of the Shriver-Allison-Court- ley-Weller-King Funeral Home in Youngstown, OH. He was a member of the National Selected Morticians, National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Funeral Directors Association, Tri-County Funeral Directors As- sociation and the Ohio Embalmers Association. ELDER JOHN RICKEY COX of Fairfield, AL died January 30, 2018 at the age of 64. He was a licensed funeral direc- tor at the Johnson Memorial Funeral Directors in Besse- mer and Leeds-Unity Funer- al Service in Leeds. MARVIN W. DUNN of Bowl- ing Green, OH died Febru- ary 17, 2018 at the age of 87. A licensed funeral director, he founded Dunn Funer- al Home in 1975 alongside his brother Donald E. and nephew Stephen C. Dunn. CARSON W. SPROW of Union, SC died unexpected- ly February 18, 2018. Car- son was the president and founder of International Mortuary Shipping LLC . He graduated summa cum laude in 1990 from the Com- monwealth Institute of Funer- al Service . Carson taught Re- storative Art and served as Preceptor in the Piedmont Technical College Mortu- ary program. He co-authored the Standard Operat- ing Procedures for identification of human remains through prosthetics and orthodontics with the late Dr. Tony Manoukian , Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Hawaii. The SOP was first used following Hurricane Katrina and later adapted for use by other disaster organizations. Carson was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Car- olina Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Coroner’s Association and Association of Latin Ameri- can Funeral Homes and Cemeteries . ANDREW J. “ANDY” LUNDQUIST of New Port Richey, FL died February 20, 2018 at the age of 77. He served the funeral indus- try for over 55 years. He was the former owner of Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home & Cremation Service, where he worked as a licensed fu- neral director, assistant man- ager and manger for over 33 years. A 1964 graduate of the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science, he was a former member of the Florida Funeral Directors Association. THELMA RUTH MABRY LANE of Red Bank, TN died March 7, 2018 at the age of 94. She and her late husband, Ross C. Lane founded Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel in 1957. They owned and oper- ated Lane Funeral Homes in Rossville, Red Bank, LaFayette, Summerville and Ooltewah, as well as Heritage Funeral Homes in East Brained and Battlefield Parkway. She was a licensed funeral director in Georgia for over 50 years, and received her 50 year pin from the Georgia Funeral Directors Association. ROSA LEE EMERSON NEWKIRK of Morton, IL, for- merly of Kirkersville, OH died March 11, 2018 at the age of 92. She received her funeral directors license in 1969 and worked alongside her mother, Gladys and husband, Harold as a licensed funeral director at the former Emerson-Newkirk Funeral Home , now the Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service until her retirement in 1983. She served on the board of the Kirkersville Cemetery Association for many years. He was co-owner of the Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home. He retired after 50 years of service as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. A 1966 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science , he was a 50- year member of the Funeral Di- rectors Association of Kentucky. Correction HELEN S. PICKETT of Fort Wayne, IN and her hus- band, Walter Pickett owned and operated Pickett Funeral Service . The March issue incorrectly iden- tified the name of the firm.
