The Conference to hold 116th Annual Meeting FAYETTEVILLE,AR— The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards (The Conference) will hold its 116th Annual Meeting February 19-20, 2020 in Palm Coast, FL at the Hammock Beach Resort. The two day event will feature trending topics including the licensing board mandates of balancing public protec- tion with the pressures of removing barriers to licensure and best practices for common sense licensing in the de- regulation environment. Streamlining disciplinary sanctions, natural organic re- duction, and legal updates are all on the agenda. The Fu- neral Service Administrators Forum and district meetings are also included, which provide attendees with the oppor- tunity for interactive discussions with participants from across North America. Additionally, The Conference is ex- cited to host a representative from the Council of State Governments who will share her firsthand knowledge of navigating the anti-regulation movement, as well as anti- trust liability in the occupational licensure setting. A schedule change this year allows attendees to take part in board member training from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18th instead of the previous split day format. This popular session familiarizes regulatory board members and staff on the roles and responsibilities of serving on licensing boards as well as the political reali- ties of boards, adjudication, discipline, and enforcement of licenses, and numerous other board challenges.
