The secret is out. Everyone who visits Austin these days leaves
with something great to say. They can't stop talking about the
legendary live music, burgeoning restaurant scene and unique
culture. Experience for yourself what makes Austin so Austin.
Habitat for Humanity
Once again, volunteers will gather on Saturday, October 19, to help give a piece
of the American dream – a home – to a family in need. There are three easy ways
to support NFDA’s Habitat project. Join NFDA as we hel p Habitat for Humanity
rebuild an Austin community and make home ownership a reality for a local fam-
ily. There are three easy ways to support Habitat for Humanity in Austin:
1. Volunteer
Saturday, October 19 – 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Join your peers for a day of giving, networking and using your skills. No matter
what your skill level, we need your help. Transportation, lunch, beverages and a T-
shirt provided.
If you have not registered for Convention
, please register online and select the Hab-
itat for Humanity event.
If you have already registered for Convention
, please call
NFDA and speak with a member service representative to register for Habitat for
Humanity. Due to limited space for this event, you may be placed on a waiting list.
2. Donate
Your tax-deductible donations will be used to support the important work Habi-
tat for Humanity is doing in the Austin community. Approximately 93 cents of ev-
ery dollar donated goes directly toward home building programs and services.
3. Sponsor
We can’t do it without you! Sponsor the NFDA house build project or a la carte
items for our volunteers. As a sponsor, you’ll help cover the cost of materials, and
we’ll recognize your generosity on-site at this year’s event.
Service of Remembrance – Tuesday, October 22
During this year’s Service of Remembrance on Tuesday, October 22, NFDA will
honor members of the funeral service family who have died, while also learning
about the rich traditions of Hispanic culture.
“Con profundo pesar, que permanecerá
siempre en nuestros corazones.”
“With deepest sorrow, they will remain forever in our
hearts.” Hispanics believe that not even death can remove the love and care a family
has for each other. Family is forever, love overcomes all. A funeral is just one more
act, a final act of love and devotion, with family gathering in shared affection.
