tion classes that increased
professional growth.
An event brought back
to the convention this year
was Public Day on Sun-
day morning, and “Stop
the Violence Campaign.”
Members and friends ral-
lied together with over
250 motorcycles and
hearses traveling from Ba-
ton Rouge to New Or-
leans. At the Hyatt hotel
everyone listened as com-
munity leaders, parents
of murdered children and
the association’s NAYE
First Born expressed con-
cerns about the incalcula-
ble grief of gun violence
against families.
On Sunday afternoon,
the group worshiped to-
gether with a Gospel
Mass and the National
Service of Remembrance
at St. Peter Claver Cath-
olic Church, followed by
a second line jazz funeral.
New Orleans is one of the
world's most fascinating
cities, and one of the most
culturally and historical-
ly-rich cities in the coun-
try. Steeped in a history of
influences from Europe,
the Caribbean, Africa and
beyond, is home to a tru-
ly unique melting pot of
culture, food and music.
While we were there, we
experienced everything
New Orleans had to offer.
On Tuesday evening,
the association honored
Louis Charbonnet, III
as the 2013 Professional
of the Year. On Wednes-
day afternoon, members
attended the inaugura-
tion of their new offi-
cers.
Jamye D. Cameron
was installed as the 64th
President of the associa-
tion. She is the fifth fe-
male president for this
historic association.
Everyone took full ad-
vantage of the events and
seminars that were offered
at the 76th Annual Con-
vention. We hope their
stay in New Orleans with
the National Funeral Di-
rectors and Morticians
Association, Inc. enriched
them intellectually, physi-
cally, mentally, spiritually,
and professionally.
Newly elected officers. (L to R) Hall Davis, IV, Chairman of the Board; Jamye D. Jeter Cameron,
