While emphatically de- nied by Sich founder and CEO, Sirius Chan, who says that Sich only sells its caskets through its approved network of United States distributors, the com- pany has taken the extra step of call- ing out its Sich branded nameplate as proof of their caskets’ authenticity. An advertising campaign and a for- mal statement from Chan on the company’s website highlight the im- portance of looking for the Sich label on every casket. Chan cautions that, “Without the Sich label, our customers don’t know what they’re getting. Be certain you’re getting an authentic Sich casket. Our label continues to be our promise.” “The Sich nameplate is an important component of a Sich branded casket,” said Chan. “It’s the funeral home’s veri- fication that the casket has been con- structed and finished with the ultimate in quality workmanship, has passed our rigorous QC inspections, and most important, comes with our own $5 million insurance protection should a family ever encounter a problemwith the casket. We stand behind our cas- kets. We stand behind our emblem.” Prior to promoting the Sich brand, many distributors sold Sich caskets under their own name, reacting to commonly held prejudices and mis- conceptions regarding Chinese-made caskets. However, over the past few years, as Sich has been actively mar- keting their brand as the ideal com- bination of tier-one quality coupled with everyday low import pricing, the marketplace has overwhelmingly welcomed the Sich brand as a viable replacement for the major domestic brands. The result is that other casket importers have been eyeing the Unit- ed States funeral home market and looking to ride on Sich’s success. Chan said that the company has re- leased a dimensional nameplate style which is being applied to selected cas- ket models as they make their way to the United States market. This will be in addition to existing nameplates which are engraved metallic emblems in brass or silver color to complement the specific casket. The nameplates all feature the Sich logo, which is a United States registered trademark. Sich Casket Company is a pioneer of the Chinese casket industry. In just over ten years the company has grown from a small family-run furniture fac- tory to a significant international man- ufacturer of wood and metal caskets and a leading Chinese supplier of cas- kets in North America. Founded by company president Sirius Chan, Sich sources its materials globally to provide the finest quality and best value at every price point. With more than 250 mod- els and styles of solid hardwood, wood veneer and metal caskets, Sich caskets are sold through a distributor network serving funeral homes throughout the United States and Canada.
