He’s excited to return to his hometown with his wife Courtney and now be raising their two boys, Myl- es and Owen, in the same little town in which he grew up. Zach moved to Nacogdoches where he earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice at Ste- phen F. Austin State University in 2006. It was in Nacogdoches that Zach be- gan his career in the funeral industry. He worked part-time at a local funeral home, where he discovered his passion for help- ing families during their toughest times. It was this passion that urged him to enroll at the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, where he graduated as class valedictorian in 2009. As a licensed funeral director and em- balmer, Zach went on to manage funeral homes and combo locations before decid- ing to return home to Lampasas. The cou- ple purchased the Sneed Funeral Chapel from long-time Lampasas funeral direc- tor Mark Sneed and his wife, Meg. The home first opened its doors in 2005 in the historic Central Christian Church, which was originally built in 1905. Courtney had been a teacher for 14 years in various grade levels and in dif- ferent school districts, but with the move to Lampasas, she decided to stop teach- ing and work alongside Zach in the funer- al home. Courtney says she is proud not only to be working beside her husband, but also to be “taking care of families and our wonderful community.” Zach is the only director at Sneed Fu- neral Chapel. He has been honored with many roles and offices and currently serves as Vice-President of the Academy of Profes- sional Funeral Service Practice. He’s held offices and is currently a board member of the Texas Funeral Director Association, and he served as president of the North Texas Funeral Director Association.
