Da- vid in owning and operating the David Funeral Home . ALMA HITCHCOCK DAVIS of Maryville, TN died November 17, 2018 at the age of 74. A licensed fu- neral director, she was the co-owner of Foothills Fu- neral Home. She was a member of the Greater Knox- ville Funeral Service Associates, Tennessee state Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and the East Ten- nessee Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. EDWARD NOLLIE WASHBURN of Bostic, NC died Novem- ber 16, 2018 at the age of 88. A licensed funeral direc- tor, he owned and operated his family firm, Washburn’s Funeral Home, from the late 1940’s until 1998 when he retired. EDWARD W. RHODES of Pea- body, MA died November 13, 2018 at the age of 91. He worked alongside his father, Edward W. Rhodes, Sr at the Rhodes Funeral Home for many years before taking over operation of the business after his father passed. He owned and operated the funeral home as a licensed funeral director until 1984, when he sold the business to David J. Solimine. A graduate of the New England Institute of Funeral Service in Boston, he was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association. ROBERT CLYDE COVER of Monroe, formerly of Dundee, MI died November 6, 2018 at the age of 65. A licensed funeral director, he began working at Temrows- ki Funeral Home and lat- er the A. H. Peters Funeral Home. In 1984, he and his wife, Cheryl Cover moved to Dundee and purchased what was then known as Buhl Fu- neral Home. He continued to own and operate Cov- er Funeral Home until he was diagnosed with can- cer, at which time Brian and Tammy Merkle were chosen to continue their legacy of dedication and ser- vice to the Dundee community. He graduated with a degree in mortuary science from Wayne State Univer- sity in 1974 and served as past president of the Michi- gan Funeral Directors Association. GLEN EDWARD “EDDIE” BALL JR of McPherson, KS died November 22, 2018 at the age of 86. He worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Wichita be- fore moving to McPherson in 1945 to work alongside his father, Glen E. Ball at the Ball & Son Funeral Home. They co-owned the firm un- til Glen passed in 1981, leav- ing Eddie to operate the business until he sold it in 1996. Eddie remained working part-time at the fu- neral home for the next several years. A graduate of the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, he was a mem- ber of the Kansas Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. JOHN BERNARD DAHL of Billings, MT died Novem- ber 21, 2018 at the age of 93. A licensed funeral director, he formed Billings Funer- al Service in 1955 alongside Howard Retz and William Brown. In 1966, he be- came sole owner of the firm, changing the name to Dahl Funeral Chapel. In 1977, he established a new location in Red Lodge and merged the Bozeman, Billings and Red Lodge operation into one. In 1978, the new cha- pel was built in Bozeman to include the only crema- tory for at least one hundred miles. In 1998 Dahl Fu- neral Chapels, LLC was formed and he turned the reins to his son, John Emil Dahl and daughter Irene. A graduate of the Worsham College of Mortuary Sci- ence, he was a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule, National Funeral Directors Associa- tion and served as past president of the Montana Fu- neral Directors Association. MARILYN E. GUMP HOLT of Cheviot, OH died No- vember 27, 2018 at the age of 84. One of the earliest female licensed funeral di- rectors and embalmers, she worked alongside her father and husband in the Gump- Holt Funeral Home for nearly sixty years. A gradu- ate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, she was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association. AUGUST K. GRAUMLICH II of Worthington, OH died De- cember 4, 2018 at the age of 86. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, he was a third generation owner of Graum- lich Funeral Home in Colum- bus, OH. A graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Funeral Directors Association and served as past president of the Central Ohio Funeral Directors Association. PIERRE of Greenwood, IL died De- cember 6, 2018 at the age of 71. Licensed in the state of Indiana and Tennessee, he retired as chairman of the board of Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Cre- matory in 2016, which he operated as a fifth generation funeral director and a Certi- fied Funeral Service Practi- tioner. St. Pierre graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He graduated from the Nation- al Foundation of Funeral Service School of Manage- ment, serving as president of the alumni association in 1977. He served as president of the Associated Funeral Directors International in 1980, president of the National Selected Morticians (now Selected In- dependent Funeral Homes) from 1991-1992, presi- dent of the National Funeral Directors Association from 2007-2008, was a life member of the Academy of Funeral Service Practitioners, and served as a rep- resentative to the American Board of Funeral Service Education for nine years. St. Pierre was proud to be involved in the creation of the National Research and Information Center that was associated with the National Foundation of Funeral Service, which he served as chairman of the board of trustees from 1995-1996. He was the only living president of five national associations in his profession.
