Fruland Funeral Home has served the community for over a Century Fruland Funeral Home Staff of Fruland Funeral Home MORRIS,IL— This year, Fruland Funeral Home celebrates 107 years in the funeral business. The funeral home is in the Queen Anne style with the typical tower, gables, and wrap around porch. It was built by Dr. N. J. Nel- son in 1899 for his home and office. It has been a funeral home since 1926. Tyler A. Hoganson had owned and operated a fur- niture store and funer- al home in Morris since 1913. In 1926, Hoganson purchased the former Nel- son home on West Jeffer- son Street and converted it to a funeral home with a residence on the sec- ond floor. Hoganson add- ed a two story garage for the funeral home vehicles as well as living quarters above the garage. Earle Fruland , a neph- ew, became associated with the business in 1935. He took over the funer- al home upon the death of Tyler Hoganson in an automobile accident in 1948. Earle’s son, H.
