SISCO of Clinton, AR died July 9, 2023 at the age of 80. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, he managed the North Arkansas Funeral Home alongside his wife, Katala. Bob then went to work for Roller McNutt Funeral Home until he retired in 2021. MICHAEL G. TAYLOR of Malvern, AR died July 23, 2023 at the age of 65. A licensed funeral director and embalmer, he managed Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena at the time of his death. Bill re-located to Lufkin with Gipson’s in 1959 as executive director, serving the community for over forty years. A 1949 graduate of the Landig College of Mortuary Science, he served two terms on the board of directors of the Texas Funeral Directors Association and was past president of the East Texas Funeral Directors Association. WILLIAM T. “BILL” SWEARINGEN of Lufkin, TX died July 3, 2023 at the age of 93. He began working as a licensed embalmer in San Augustine before finding employment with Gipson Funeral Home in Pineland. rector for over fifty years, he retired from Littleton & Rue Funeral Home and Crematory in 2005. A graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he served as president of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association in 1985 and continued his involvement throughout the entirety of his career. THOMAS D. “TOM” RUE of Springfield, OH died July 13, 2023 at the age of 79. A licensed funeral director, he was associated with Langeland Family Funeral Homes and was a partner with his brother, Norman and cousin, Kenneth. Langeland retired in 1993 but continued as a staff member until 2004. A 1954 graduate of the Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. HAROLD C. LANGELAND of Kalamazoo, MI died July 15, 2023 at the age of 92. Connie was a member of the Crescent City Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, and the 100 Black Women of Funeral Service Inc. CONSTANCE “CONNIE” MARRIOTT SELICO of New Orleans, LA died July 20, 2023 at the age of 90. homes in Yankton and Mitchell, SD and Trinidad, CO. In 1981, they purchased the Mullare Funeral Home, renaming it Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home. Murphy remained working alongside her husband until his passing in 1993 and until recently, continued to help her son, Tom when he assumed ownership of the firm. MARY ELLEN MURPHY of Trinidad, CO died April 4, 2023 at the age of 95. She worked alongside her husband, John Murphy in owning and operating funeral from 1969-1973 and presented with their Meritorious Service Award. He also served as president of the Allied Memorial Council of Washington from 1972-1973 and was vice president of the Monument Builders of North American from 19821986. Quiring was honored by the Washington Cemetery and Funeral Service Association as Person of the Year in 1991. DAVID HERMAN QUIRING JR of Seattle, WA died July 15, 2023 at the age of 80. He began working full time with Quiring Monuments, Inc in 1964 and assumed the role of president after the passing of his father. He remained president until 2016 when he retired and sold the business to his daughter and son-in-law. A board member of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association, Quiring served as president of the Pacific Northwest Monument Builders Association He and his wife, Pam purchased the Fenner Funeral Home Inc in Herkimer in 1985 and later acquired the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home in Richfield Springs. A 1961 graduate of the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, Hess was a member of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association and the New York State Funeral Directors Association. RONALD PAUL HESS of Herkimer, NY died May 15, 2023 at the age of 82. His professional career started working as an apprentice at the George F. Scholderer Funeral Home in Binghamton. Hess briefly worked for the McGrath Funeral Home in Bronxville and was manager of the Havey-Maloney Funeral Home in Yonkers. ROBERT LEE “BOB” VAN HORN of Toledo, OH died August 8, 2023 at the age of 78. A funeral director and embalmer, he worked at the former David R. Jasin Funeral Home for thirty-six and a half years. He retired in 2007.
