Page B6 MAY 2021 FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY NEWS Se c t i on B This might seem somewhat premature, but I think the world is getting back to normal, at least my world. Last weekend we had the World of Wheels car show in Kansas City. This is the first car show I have been able to attend in over a year. Last year the two major car shows were cancelled, the New Car Show and World of Wheels. What was worse for me was that local fairs, small town homecomings, and most of the festivals were also cancelled, and that usually included a car show. So no 2020 car shows for me, and the rest of us car lovers. If you have been reading my column over the years you know I am not a big fan of World of Wheels, and even less a fan of the New Car Show. I like custom and restored cars, which is what World of Wheels offers, but so many of the vehicles in that show will never see the streets. The cars are too pretty, too shiny, too expensive for my taste. For the most part the cars are owned by rich people, or companies related to the car industry – these are trophies, not cars. I prefer the lo- cal car shows where regular people show off their cars, cars they have invested their blood, sweat and tears in to build. They aren’t as shiny, pretty or expensive, but they are real, and they do see the streets. And in a very real way they are so much better than the trophy cars. Nonetheless, I was excited to go to any car show, Mike Jamar is founder and co-owner of Advanced Integration Technology. I guess this is for contact tracing should something break out. I personally hope this doesn’t happen, because I’m afraid Disney World may be inundated with calls try- ing to contact Mickey Mouse. Not that I would do such a thing. Nonetheless, I am excited about the possibilities for 2021 and hope you are too. World of Wheels notwithstanding. However, it was different this year. First, everyone had to wear a mask and presumably be socially distanced. I have come to like the social distancing concept and hope it catches on. I don’t like people in my personal space and there are always those people that don’t seem to under- stand that concept. Maybe now those people will come to cherish that value, but frankly, I have my doubts. The masks are another thing, I don’t like them! Recently I’ve noticed more people not wearing theirs. Please note I live in the Midwest, which may not reflect the norms for the rest of the country. I admire these guys and gals when I see them not wearing a mask and I want to be like them. Side note, I am not sure these kinds of pronouns, guys and gals, are acceptable anymore. I recently heard about a school that wants everyone to stop referring to parents as Mom and Dad, they prefer something like folks. I under- stand that because now there are Mom and Mom, Dad and Dad, Mom and current other, Dad and current oth- er… However, I don’t think the term folks is appropri- ate either, it implies an intimacy that might not exist, so I suggest we start using Parental Units. This has worked well for many sci fi movies, which include robot parents or alien surrogates. Getting back to the World of Wheels show, the other thing that was required before going in was to fill out a Hallelujah! Forty-four Wilbert Licensees earn Ultimate Service Provider for 2020 OVERLAND PARK,KS— Forty-four Wilbert licensees have earned the 2020 Ultimate Service Provider designation from Wilbert Funeral Services, Inc. (WFSI). The Ultimate Service Provider is the highest service honor for Wilbert licensees, achieved by passing rigorous on-site inspections in manufacturing and service. There are many factors evaluated and scored by WFSI field service engineers who inspect each Wilbert Licensee on a regular basis. Compliance with WFSI vault manufacturing specifications and procedures are evaluated as well as graveside service components such as highly-polished lowering devices and well-maintained tents and chairs, all of which contributes toward a positive ex- perience for families. Service vehicles are also inspected for cleanliness as they may also be seen by the public. “Wilbert is proud to have the most stringent inspection procedures in the industry but we are even more proud of our Licensees who achieve Ultimate Service Provider,” said TerryWhitlock, senior vice president, licensee products and services. “A licensee must receive at least eight points out of ten in each and every category that is scored in order to be designated Ultimate Service Provid- er. Because we look at everything from manufacturing to graveside setup and service, every person in a Licensee orga- nization is involved, making Ultimate Service Provider a team effort that illus- trates dedication on the part of all.” Wilbert Licensees receiving the 2020 Ultimate Service Provider designa- tion are: Alberta Wilbert Sales Ltd, Edmonton, Canada; Wilbert Funer- al Services, Lavaca, AR; Wilbert Fu- neral Services, Commerce City, CO; Gulf Coast Wilbert, Inc, Crestview, FL; Master Grave Service, Inc, Bo- gart, GA; Burlington Wilbert Vault Works, Inc, Burlington, IA; Clin- ton Wilbert Vaults, Inc, Clinton, IA; Williams Wilbert Vault Works, Inc, Des Moines, IA; Wilbert Burial Vault Co, Fort Dodge, IA; Roland-Wilbert Vault Co, Marion, IA; Sioux CityWil- bert Vault Co, Sioux City, IA; Kelley Vault Co, Inc, Danville, IL; Ameri- can Wilbert Vault Corp, Des Plaines, IL; Knauer Industries, LLC, Joliet, IL; Peoria Wilbert Vault Co, Inc, Metamora, IL; Quad Cities Concrete Products, LLC, Milan, IL; Quincy Wilbert Vault Co, Quincy, IL; Sterling Vault Co, Sterling, IL; SchultzWilbert Vault Co, Streator, IL; AkronConcrete Products, Inc, Akron, IN; Wilbert Fu- neral Services, Kinsley, KS; Wilbert Funeral Services, Parsons, KS; Wilbert Vault of Somerset, Inc, Somerset, KY; West Michigan Burial Vault Co, Mus- kegon, MI; Wilbert Funeral Services, Grandview, MO; Wilbert Funeral Ser- vices, Jackson, MO; Wilbert Funeral Services, Moberly, MO; Wilbert Fu- neral Services, Springfield, MO; Wil- bert Funeral Services, St. Joseph, MO; St. Louis Wilbert Vault Co, St. Louis, MO; Wilbert Funeral Services, Ver- sailles, MO; Asheville Wilbert Vault Service, Inc, Candler, NC; Yates Wil- bert Vault, LLC, Charlotte, NC; Turn- er Vault Company, Lima, OH; Wil- bert Funeral Services, Lawton, OK; Wilbert Funeral Services, Oklahoma City, OK; Wilbert Funeral Servic- es, Tulsa, OK; Wilbert Burial Vault Co, Inc, Greenville, SC; Charleston Wilbert Vault Co, Summerville, SC; Bolton Concrete Products, Inc, John- son City, TN; Wilbert Funeral Servic- es, Harlingen, TX; Wilbert Vaults of Houston, LLP, Houston, TX; Wilbert Funeral Services, San Antonio, TX; and Fond du lac Wilbert Vault Corp, Fond du Lac, WI.
