Go To L king For Working with the families is what Victoria finds most reward- ing in her job. “I am just honored to know that I have started them off on their journey through grief in a good light,” she says. Like any job, being a funeral di- rector has its challenges. For Vic- toria, as with most in the profes- sion, the long hours can be taxing. But she also says that remembering to check her emails and text mes- sages is sometimes an issue. “It’s something I was not used to do- ing,” she says, “but coffee certainly helps me and I am more than hap- py to answer any family’s questions even during my time off.” Victoria hopes to stay with Hef- fner Cremation and Funeral Care for “as long as they will have me.” Some day she hopes to obtain a Master’s degree and perhaps teach at a school like CCMS. Attract- ing young people to the death care profession is often an uphill climb. It is encouraging to know that Vic- toria is out there caring for others and ensuring a strong future for the calling.
