BUCH of Manheim, formerly of Lititz, PA died October 14, 2019 at the age of 91. A licensed funeral di- rector, he was the former owner and operator of Buch Funeral Home, Inc in Man- heim. PHILIP J. “PHIL” CAUVEL of Titusville, PA died Octo- ber 12, 2019 at the age of 77. Phil’s career in the automobile business spanned several de- cades. He was last employed for a number of years as a sales representative with American Coach Sales, Cleveland, OH for the Western PA and West- ern NY regions. JOHN JOSEPH DEEB of Manchester, CT died No- vember 5, 2019 at the age of 75. He worked as an apprentice embalmer for Robinson and Wright Fu- neral Home in Centerbrook, CT before working as a funeral director at Holmes Funeral Homes in Man- chester. Deeb retired in 2010 after 38 years. A 1965 graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, he was a member of the Connecti- cut Funeral Directors Association. JUSTIN I. HEATH of Belleville, IL died October 18, 2019 at the age of 43. He was employed at Schrader Funeral Home in St. Louis, MO and earned his degree in mortu- ary science at the Saint Louis Community College. BETTY SUE MCDANIEL of Bowling Green, KY died Oc- tober 24, 2019 at the age of 69. She was a funeral direc- tor at Hardy & Son Funeral Home for 20 years. FRANCIS L. PLUMLY of Barnes- ville, OH died October 14, 2019 at the age of 96. A retired funer- al director, he was the former owner and operator of Camp- bell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, which he began work- ing at in 1948. A graduate of the Cleveland College of Mortuary Sci- ence, he was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association. JULIAN H. RENFRO SR of Cincinnati, OH died Oc- tober 31, 2019 at the age of 74. A third generation funer- al director and embalmer, he was president of Renfro Fu- neral Services, where he had worked since the age of 18. He graduated from the Cin- cinnati College of Mortuary Science. GERALD “JERRY” LEE SPRAGG of Manitowoc, WI died October 15, 2019 at the age of 70. A funeral director for over 20 years, he served as the general manager at Range Funeral Home in Virginia and Hibbing, MN until his retirement in 2012. Spragg graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Sci- ence in 1992. LOWELL PUGH of Golden City, MO died August 12, 2019 at the age of 87. A fu- neral director for 66 years, he joined his great-uncle Enoch Phillips and his parents, Har- old Franklin Pugh and Ha- zel Wanda Thomas Pugh at their family’s business, Pugh Funeral Home. In 1991, Pugh began publication of The Dead Beat-The Caregiv- ers Soapbox and co-authored a continuing education course on grief resolution for co-workers. A 1952 graduate of the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Missouri Funeral Directors Association and the Texas Funeral Directors Association. JACQUELYN S. TAYLOR of Wal- pole, MA died October 20, 2019 at the age of 66. A fu- neral director, embalmer and teacher, Jacquie served her ap- prenticeship at the McGaffey Andreason Eugene Memo- rial Chapel in Oregon before it was sold to Uniservice Cor- poration. Founder and CEO Ellsworth “Ells” Purdy be- came a devoted mentor to Tay- lor. She attended the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, where she served as an instructor before being promoted to director of admissions. After spending a few years as dean of students, Taylor continued to teach funeral related courses for nearly three decades, even af- ter assuming the role of college president. In 2001, she joined Mount Ida College in Newton as a full tenured professor as well as the executive director of the college’s New England Institute of Funeral Service Education. Tay- lor retired as a full-time professor in 2014 to establish The Funeral Tutor. In addition, she worked as a special projects coordinator and as a curator of the private fam- ily museum for The Dodge Company. LARRY M. THOMPSON of Greenwood, IN died Octo- ber 17, 2019 at the age of 75. A funeral director and em- balmer for fifty-two years, he worked for the Watson Fu- neral Home in Cayuga, Mill- er Funeral Service in Brazil and the Russell & Hitch Fu- neral Home in Lebanon be- fore retiring from the Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service in Greenwood after 25 years of service. Thompson and his wife, Nancy Jo, previously owned and operated the Watson Funeral Home in Cayuga. A 1966 graduate of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association.
