A licensed funeral director, he managed Davis Funeral Home from 1958 to 1964 and from 1985 to its closing earlier this year. He graduated from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Sci- ence. BENJAMIN HENRY EWING of Pomeroy, OH died July 22, 2018 at the age of 74. He was a licensed funeral direc- tor and owner of the Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy for 50 years. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association. VINCENT RICHARD JEN- DRZEJCZAK of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Amsterdam, NY died August 1, 2018 at the age of 69. He graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science. RUTH ELIZABETH “KLOTZ” NEWMAN of Grantsville, MD died June 30, 2018 at the age of 91. She took the funeral direc- tors test in 1964, the last year it was offered, which allowed her to make arrangements and con- duct funerals alongside her hus- band, Donald James Newman at Newman Funeral Homes. She retired in 1991, following Don’s illness. JOHN SINCLAIR STUMP of Grantsville, WV died July 31, 2018 at the age of 77. He began working at Stump Funeral Home as a 9 year old boy and an- swering ambulance calls at the age of 16. He served over 60 years in the funeral profession as a fourth generation funeral director and embalmer, following his father, Charles “Bunk” Stump, his grandfather, Ira N. Stump and his great grandmother, Martha E. Bennett Stump, who founded the business. A 1962 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Sci- ence, he served on the West Virginia Board of Funeral Service Examiners for several years. A licensed funeral director and embalm- er for over 50 years, he was a third generation owner and operator of the Jones Funer- al Home in Dixon and Am- boy. A graduate of the Wor- sham College of Mortuary Science, he was a life mem- ber of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and was past member of the Northern Illi- nois Funeral Directors Association. GEORGE WILSON HURD JR of Knoxville, IL died July 16, 2018 at the age of 78. A li- censed funeral director for 57 years, he worked for funeral homes in Moline, Geneseo, Havana, Port Byron, Bloom- ington and Woodhull before purchasing the Vandemore Funeral Home in Atkinson and the Hendricks Funer- al Home in Oneida in 1978, the Martin-Trumbold Funeral Home in Knoxville in 1979, and Root Funeral Home in Maquon in 1994, all of which were operated as Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes. He was a sexton of the Knoxville Cemetery at the time of his death, and helped or- ganize and served as both director and EMT for the tri-county ambulance service in Henry, Mercer and Knox counties. A graduate of the Worsham College of Mortuary Science, he served on the Carl Sandburg College of Mortuary Science board and was a member of the Oneida Cemetery Association. TIMOTHY MICHAEL HOLDEN of Godfrey, IL died August 9, 2018 at the age of 63. A li- censed funeral director and embalmer, he worked at sev- eral funeral homes, including Crawford Funeral Home, Mercer Funeral Home, Burke Funeral Home, Stat- en Funeral Home, Jacoby Funeral Home, and Quinn Funeral Home. He served as a mentor and tutor for many funeral directors and embalmers during their apprenticeships as a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association . A. RAY KYLE of Hubbard, OH died July 13, 2018 at the age of 86. A licensed fu- neral director since 1954, he was the operator of Stewart- Kyle Funeral Home from 1955 to 1963, at which time he assumed ownership of the company. A 1952 graduate of the Cleveland College of Mor- tuary Science, he was a mem- ber of the National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Funeral Directors Associa- tion and the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association, where he has served as past president. EILEEN MEYER RENCO of Louisville, KY died July 3, 2018 at the age of 50. A li- censed embalmer, she was a fourth generation owner of Herman Meyer and Son, Inc and was a partner at Fu- neral Directors Vault LLC. A graduate of the Mid-Amer- ica College of Mortuary Col- lege , she was past president of Falls City Funeral Directors and was a former board member of the Jewish Funeral Directors Association. ROBERT M. “BOB” SCOTT II of Corsicana, TX died Au- gust 1, 2018 at the age of 90. A licensed funeral direc- tor and embalmer, he was raised at the People’s Funer- al Home, which was owned by his great-aunt, J. S. “Ben- nie” Adair. He acquired ownership of the firm upon Adair’s death in 1960 and operated the Scott Funeral Home alongside his wife, Mabel. He graduated from the Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. PAUL A. KLOC of West Sen- eca, NY died July 29, 2018 at the age of 77. He was a li- censed funeral director, own- er and operator of Paul A. Kloc Blossom Chapels in West Seneca for more than 45 years. A graduate of the American Academy of Funeral Service, he served as a former vice president of the Erie Ni- agara Funeral Directors Association and was a member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association. M. SCOTT GIBSON of Flat- woods, WV died August 9, 2018 at the age of 80. A li- censed funeral director, he spent many years at the Carl Wilson Funeral Home in Clay County, WV. He owned and operated the Stockert- Gibson Funeral Home from 1972 until his health declined. A graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association. GORDON R. DILLER of Bluff- ton, OH died August 5, 2018 at the age of 67. A licensed funeral director, he began working at the Halteman- Fett-Dyer Funeral Home in Lancaster, OH before pur- chasing the Haas-Diller Fu- neral Home in Pandora. He served families at Chiles-La- man Funeral & Cremation Services in Bluffton from 1989 until present.
