A Louisiana licensed funeral director for 18 years, he and his family owned and operated Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday. EDWARD KOPMAN of Batavia, IL died at the age of 61. A 2004 graduate of Worsham School of Mortuary Science, he worked for Austin Livery, Knollcrest Funeral Home in Lombard, IL, and most recently at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, IL. CYNTHIA ANN MEANS of Auburn, IN died June 6, 2024, at the age of 63. She worked for Messenger for over 25 years until her retirement. BERNARD MARTIN O’BRIEN, SR. of Pittsburgh, PA died May 6, 2024, at the age of 76. Licensed in 1972 and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, he worked with his father and eventually took over as owner of O’Brien’s Funeral Home in Allegheny-West, PA. GENEVIEVE LORRAINE ROARK of North Richland Hills, TX died June 1, 2024 at the age of 97. After raising their daughters she joined her husband, Bob Roark, in the family business, Roark Casket Company in Fort Work, TX. ROBERT “BOB” R. WATT of Wapakoneta, OH died May 20, 2024 at the age of 77. He started his career at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services in Lima in 1981. Watt served 43 years as a senior funeral service associate and was a certified crematory operator. V. WADE WILKINS of Montross, VA died January 16, 2024 at the age of 70. A retired funeral director, he started working at SanfordPrice Funeral Home in Montross, using his talents to carve and shape monuments and in 1985, served his apprenticeship under the tenure of its owner, John W. Welch, II. Wilkins was serving as manager of the B. W. White Funeral Home in Aylett at the time of his death. as a funeral intern at the age of 16. Together with his wife Christine, they built the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home in 1977 and eventually purchased the Maliszewski Memorial Home and the Maliszewski Funeral Home in 1983. A graduate of the American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, he was a member of the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. CARMEN F. SPEZZI of Sayreville, NJ died May 21, 2024 at the age of 72. He began working for Matthew A. Maliszewski in 1966 and was a 69-year member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, where he served as president in 1971-1972. After September 11, 2001, Knapp was asked by the National Funeral Directors Association to travel to Ground Zero in New York City and serve as a volunteer funeral director and liaison for the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office. WAYNE D. KNAPP of Watseka, IL died May 16, 2024 at the age of 93. He worked as a mobile embalmer in Europe and Africa while serving in the military. Following his discharge from the military, Knapp served as Iroquois County Coroner from 1960-1976 and was the owner and operator of Knapp Funeral Homes.
