Iglehart has extensive experience in both higher education and funeral ser- vice. Over her eighteen years in the academic arena, she has served in numerous roles in stu- dent affairs and academ- ic affairs, most recently as campus academic dean at Gupton-Jones Col- lege of Funeral Service (GJCFS), where she also was student support co- ordinator, instructor and program chair. Prior to joining GJCFS, Iglehart held various positions at Athens Technical College and the University of Georgia, includ- ing learning specialist, academic ad- visement, registration and recruitment, and faculty. Iglehart is a fourth-generation li- censed funeral director and embalmer as well as a certified crematory opera- tor and cremation arranger. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Piedmont College, a Bachelor of Arts in English from Bennett College for Women, and an Associate of Sci- ence from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. “Hope Iglehart brings a solid foun- dation of experience and deep passion to education and funeral service,” said Jill Karn, chief operating officer of Pierce Mortuary Colleges. “She has al- ready made a lasting im- pact on students in her prior roles at the college and I am confident that she will take the leader- ship reins with that same commitment to students and faculty.” Iglehart is a member of many civic organizations including The Links, In- corporated; Alpha Kap- pa Alpha Sorority, Incor- porated; and the Georgia Funeral Service Practitio- ners Association. Among her many distinctions, she is especially proud of the Humanitarian Award be- stowed by Church Women United. “I am honored to be named as presi- dent of this excellent college that has such a proud heritage of preparing fu- neral professionals to serve families with compassion and professionalism,” Iglehart said.
