BARBER of Homer, NY died May 26, 2018 at the age of 75. He es- tablished the Donald L. Bar- ber Funeral Home in 1968, which he owned and operat- ed as a licensed funeral direc- tor for 50 years. He graduat- ed from the Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in 1962. WILLIAM D. “BILL” BOWSER of Anderson, IN died January 20, 2018 at the age of 95. He worked alongside his brother, Ed as president and co-own- er of Bright Corp, which was established in 1945. THOMAS E. COLASANTO of Terryville, CT died May 25, 2018 at the age of 79. He was a funeral director and owner of Colasanto Funeral Home until retirement. He received his associate of science degree from the American Academy of Embalming and Mortuary Research in New York City. LAWRENCE G. “LARRY” ENGLISH of McLeansville, NC, formerly of Fayetteville, NY and Chittenango, NY died May 10, 2018 at the age of 70. He was president of the Marsellus Casket Compa- ny, later president of Premier Hardwoods. He had served on the board of the Casket and Funeral Supply Association of America. JAMES KEVIN HASSETT of Fort Mohave, AZ died May 20, 2018 at the age of 70. He was the owner and op- erator of Desert Lawn Me- morial Gardens in Bullhead City, which he purchased in 1984. He retired in 2015 as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He received his degree in mortuary science in Los Angeles. LARRY DEAN SERVIES of Waveland, IN died May 31, 2018 at the age of 84. He owned and operated Machledt & Ser- vies Funeral Home in Servies and Waveland and Morgan Funeral Homes in Ladoga and Roachdale. He graduated from the Indiana College of Mortu- ary Science in 1952 and was a member of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association. GARY A. WALKER of Sylvania Township, OH died June 1, 2018 at the age of 74. He joined his father at Walker Funeral Homes, served as president of the company from 1983-1997, and continued to be ac- tive in the daily operations of the funeral homes until his retirement in 2017. In 1967, he founded Walker Ambulance Company and served as president until he sold it in 1996. A graduate of the Cincinnati Col- lege of Mortuary Science, he was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. JOHN THOMAS SHOOK of Avon Lake, OH died May 22, 2018 at the age of 53. He began an apprenticeship with the Davis Velker Fu- neral Home of Boardman, OH at the age of 16 and lat- er worked for Busch Funer- al Home, where he served as managing funeral director of their Avon Lake and Avon fu- neral homes for 22 years un- til his passing. He graduated from the Pittsburgh In- stitute of Mortuary Science. JUANITA S. STONE of Atlan- ta, GA died May 30, 2018 at the age of 89. A second gen- eration funeral director, she owned and operated Sell- ers Brothers Funeral Home Inc of Atlanta for more than 30 years. The funeral home closed around 2008. As a trailblazer in the male-domi- nated funeral home industry, Stone would often open her funeral home to students who needed clinical experi- ence to graduate from mortuary school. In 1970 she became president of Sellers Brothers in Atlanta, a busi- ness started in 1920 in Carrollton by her father, Sam- uel Garrett Sellers, his brother James and several oth- er uncles. WISNIEWSKI of Toledo, OH died June 9, 2018 at the age of 69. A licensed fu- neral director and embalm- er, he began employment with his grandfather, Stanley J. Ur- banski, at his family’s funer- al home. He also worked as an EMT with his uncle’s company, Urbanski Ambulance Com- pany. In 1984, the combina- tion of the Robert H. Wick and the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Homes opened on Reynolds Road. In 1986, he founded Toledo Limou- sine Service, which downsized in 2001. He graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Service.
