Hill and advisor Thomas T. Hilderbrand, the summit boasted a power-packed agenda that drew over 300 funeral professionals, making it the largest summit to date. As the 40 & Under funeral directors celebrated 10 years of leadership and enrichment this year in Houston, the strong tradition continued by promising to offer the highest ideals of professional funeral service to attendees. One of the highlights of the event was the offering of 10 CEUs for licensed professionals, providing valuable educational opportunities. Kicking off the summit, Wendal Givens, a Virginia licensee, presented on the topic “Who is the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc - NFDMA?” This session engaged attendees interactively while highlighting the history, leadership and importance of NFDMA. Additionally, a class on mental health in the workplace, led by attorney Nuru Witherspoon, underscored the importance of addressing mental well-being within the profession. A late-night panel discussion, titled “I Want to Own,” delved into the nuances of funeral home ownership, led by industry expert Chris Leevy Johnson of the Leevy Funeral Home in Columbia, SC. Tying up the education offerings, a class focused on preparing for the national board exam was particularly beneficial for young professionals fresh out of mortuary school, aiding them in their journey towards licensure.
