Many of the costs as- sociated with providing quality funeral services, such as vehicles, caskets, and professional staffing have increased over the past several decades. Even though funeral costs have not increased as much as Logan Funeral Home, Exton Logan Funeral Home, Havertown Logan Funeral Home, Philadelphia Continued from Front Page Logan acquires Videon Funeral Home 1920s, the funeral home was handling over 200 funerals each year. Most funerals were conducted from people’s homes, so the small funeral home was able to thrive. In 1929, William H. Logan, Jr. and his father decided to open a branch location in the Bor- ough of Yeadon in Dela- ware County. The inner suburbs were flourish- ing, and the new funer- al home grew with them. William, Jr. was active at the suburban funeral home and joined many local or- ganizations, including the Yeadon Bor- ough Council. William H. Logan, III joined the fu- neral home industry, like his father and grandfather before him. In 1964, he decided to move to a bigger location across town in Yeadon. By this time, the area was bursting with new sub- urbanites, and the larger home was able to meet the needs of this bustling community. This demo- graphic change, along with William, III’s con- tinued community in- volvement, allowed the business in Yeadon to thrive. In 2004, the Logan family broke ground on a new funeral home in the town of Exton, Chester County on an ideally located spot at the corner of Route 30 and Ship Road. In 2006 William H. Lo- gan, IV, the current president, purchased an ex- isting funeral home on Eagle Rd. in Havertown, Delaware County. By expanding westward from the city of Philadelphia, the Logan family hoped to continue to grow within the neighborhoods, be- come involved in the communities, and gain the trust of the area as they had in their other location. For many families, selecting Logan Funeral Home has been a tradition for generations. The Logan Funeral Homes and the Frank C. Vid- eon Funeral Home chose to merge in part because of the financial benefits to the community. “Our Entrance at Logan Funeral Home, Exton Interior at Logan Funeral Home, Havertown food, utilities, automobiles and other necessities, prices have increased. The best strategy for controlling funeral cost is consolidation, which is the ulti- mate objective of both families. “Merging the businesses will allow us to take advantage of the benefits of scale,” William states. “Our combined staff of experienced funeral directors and ad- ministrators will continue to offer a full spectrum of services and options, while controlling our cost. I am particularly pleased that David and the entire Videon staff will be working with us and avail- able to meet with families,” he says. “The communities we serve are very important to my family,” William con- tinues. “This merger with The Frank C. Videon Funeral Home will allow the newly formed Logan-Videon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. to continue the high quality of service only a locally owned and family-oper- ated funeral business can.”
